DraftKings NFL DFS Picks For Chiefs vs. Colts Showdown Slate: Invest in the Kansas City Offense

We're finishing off our Sunday night with a SNF contest featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts. The Chiefs come in as a six-point favorites over the Colts. 

I'm going to break down the SNF DraftKings DFS showdown for this game. I'll first highlight some players that I want to target in the captain spot, who get a 1.5x fantasy-point boost. High-upside players are who you want to target at the captain spot, and getting them lower-owned is also a plus. I will then break down some flex plays that I like to round out your lineups.

Captain Picks For DraftKings NFL DFS Chiefs vs. Colts Showdown Slate

Kenneth Walker ($15,900): Let's start off my captain picks with Chiefs starting RB Kenneth Walker. Walker is coming off a stellar opening game, totaling 191 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. He was not only given the ball a ton, but was very efficient with his touches. We knew Walker would be a key part of the Chiefs offense this year, but Week 1 showed us that he may be the team's most relied-upon piece for success. 

This was great to see for his fantasy outlook, and he instantly inserted himself as a top fantasy option across the entire league. I like clicking him here at captain in a great matchup against the Colts. Indianapolis had no answer last week for Derrick Henry and the Ravens, and Walker should dominate them as well.

Patrick Mahomes ($15,000): Next, I'm going to mention Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs QB is currently the highest-projected-owned captain on the slate. Likewise, he is popping into lineups as the most optimal captain. He and Walker are neck and neck for the safest plays on the slate, as well as packing an immense amount of upside. 

Mahomes had a Week 1 to forget in the passing department. He completed just 56% of his passes for 184 yards, as well as one passing TD and one interception. The positive takeaway from Week 1 was his willingness to rush. He had seven rushes for 23 yards and a TD. This is great to see as it boosts his fantasy point floor. There were worries about how his rush game would be following his injuries, but Week 1 gives us confidence that he is feeling good.

Value CPT Pick: Xavier Worthy ($8,100): I always love to mention a value captain play that is viable if the opportunity arises. We get that here with Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs' No. 2 WR option. He is projected as the overall best point-per-dollar play on the slate. His price tag is too cheap here. 

Worthy is going to get some ownership at the captain spot, so this is definitely not a sneaky spot or anything. But with a slate that includes two valuable spend-up running backs in Walker and Jonathan Taylor, getting to Worthy captain opens up salary to be able to get both of them. It also allows the bottom-end of your lineups to not be so bare, as there is not much playable value below the kickers here.

FLEX Plays For Chiefs vs. Colts DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown Slate

Tyler Warren ($7,200): I'm going to start my favorite flex plays with a well-projected player in a bit of a tougher spot to get to. Tyler Warren's $7.2k price tag falls right between the spend-ups and the values. Getting to Warren means getting off one of the spend-ups, but it also brings up the floor of your lineup's value. 

I like getting to Warren, as he has the potential to soak up a ton of the Colts receiver targets. This is a good spot for him, the price is good, and I prefer not to take what will be practically a 0 with this slate's deep value. Similarly, Josh Downs also falls into this area at $6.6k, and his big-play upside throws him right in the mix. I like him as leverage, though he is riskier than Warren.

Harrison Butker ($5,000): Next, let's talk about our value, if we can even call it that. A slate with very little value; the kickers come in as our cheapest players with any sort of floor. The clear edge goes to Butker, who is handling the Chiefs' kicks as 6-point favorites here. 

I personally like getting off a spend-up for Warren or Downs and rounding my lineup off with a kicker. Butker looks like a great cash, and GPP option. Just to mention, Tyquan Thorton ($3,800) is the best-looking value below the kickers, and I would give him more of a nod than just being a dart throw. He has a path to get there in a big way tonight, in what will be a bounce-back opportunity for him after a 0 fantasy points in Week 1.

Jonathan Taylor ($11,000): Lastly, I have to mention Jonathan Taylor. JT comes in as the showdown's most expensive player here, which is no shock. The Colts star has dominated the team's usage for years, getting almost 100% of rushing attempts and being involved in the passing game. He is not the easiest to get to, depending on the build you're going for. This is due to the others in his price range, Mahomes and Walker, projecting a little better per dollar. However, getting to JT when possible is a no-brainer.
