This is an interesting debate because you have two quarterbacks with two different playing styles, yet they are right next to each other in our fantasy football rankings. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is more of a traditional pocket passer with a slingshot for an arm; Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart flashes his athleticism and relies on his scrambling and rushing to push the ball down the field.

The Case For Jaxson Dart

Last year, Dart showed he could be one of the more dynamic quarterbacks in the league with his above-average ability to extend plays with his legs and become a difficult player to take down in the open field. Despite playing 14 games, he finished third among quarterbacks with 487 rushing yards, +39.5 rush EPA and second with 9 rushing touchdowns.

If he improves his passing, then he could become a difficult quarterback to stop. Last year, he was a below-average passer, ranking 21st with a 63.7% completion rate and 27th with 72.9% on target rate.

The hope is that the Giants have brought in enough pass catchers to help take Dart’s air attack to the next level. The return of Odell Beckham Jr. could bring a much-needed veteran presence, and they also signed tight end Isaiah Likely from the Ravens.

Dart will also get back his two biggest weapons, with Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo ready to return after each suffered season-ending injuries.

The Case For Trevor Lawrence

Last season, the Jaguars saw the Trevor Lawrence whom they drafted first overall in 2021.

After a 2024 season where Lawrence dealt with injuries and played only 10 games, he came back strong in 2025, making it his third season throwing for 4,000+ yards and 20+ touchdowns.

He was a league-winning fantasy quarterback, finishing as the QB4, but he truly shined later in the season, ranking as the QB1 from Weeks 10-18. That means, if he was in your lineup during the fantasy playoffs, look over at your fantasy championship trophy and smile.

What has helped him become someone who can throw for a lot of yards is his ability to throw deep passes. Last season, when attempting passes of 20+ yards, he ranked eighth with 30 completions and ninth with 892 passing yards.

Not only did Lawrence have personal success, but so did his team, with the Jaguars’ 13-4 record being their best since Lawrence joined the team.

What could help him replicate last year’s success is that he has the same group of pass catchers. Brian Thomas regressed in 2025, but his rookie season of 1,282 receiving yards proves he’s an excellent wide receiver. Parker Washington had a breakout season with a career-high 847 receiving yards. Travis Hunter’s season was unfortunately cut short after suffering a LCL tear, but when healthy, the two-way player is an explosive receiver.

Should You Draft Jaxson Dart or Trevor Lawrence in Fantasy Football 2026?

When deciding between these two quarterbacks, you have to think about whether you want to take a risk or play it safe.

The hesitation with Dart is that there are some unknown factors. It’s a brand-new coaching staff, and he’s learning a new offense. The optimism is that Giants OC Matt Nagy will be able to tailor the offense to Dart's strengths, which include using his mobility with RPOs and bootlegs. However, it’s on Dart to execute and be productive.

However, with his ability to gain yards with his legs, he has the potential to be a top-10 quarterback if he can put it all together.

Besides the departure of RB Travis Etienne, there’s no significant change to the Jaguars offensive lineup or coaching staff. Replacing Etienne as their featured running back will be their second-year player Bhayshul Tuten, who is getting praised in training camp.

Lawrence may not have Dart's ceiling, but his floor is much safer.
