Philadelphia Eagles vs. Carolina Panthers Fantasy Football Matchup Breakdown For Week 6
John Laghezza breaks down the NFC matchup between the Panthers and Eagles for the Week 6 fantasy football slate.
This entire game just flipped on its head, as news just came down the wire that Jalen Hurts had an ultrasound done that revealed a superficial blood clot. Yet to announce a replacement or return date, the 2026 Eagles season is starting to circle the drain.

Carolina Panthers Fantasy Preview For Week 6
As if this season couldn't get much weirder, I must admit to missing the Panthers out there on the field. Well, as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Easily one of the biggest surprises across the real-life and fantasy landscape, the Panthers are one of just three teams averaging over 400 yards of offense/game.
It starts with my comeback player of the year to date, Bryce Young. Currently fantasy’s QB4 in points/game, the former 1.01 finally looks like a comfortable fit in Dave Canales’ pass-happy scheme. Young’s leading the NFL in passing yards/game (317.0), in large part due to newfound efficacy in the play-action game — where he’s third overall in total yards, despite being a full game short of the leaders.
Play-action only works with a threat from the ground game, something Chuba Hubbard, another one of the best picks on the board’s been more than happy to provide. Averaging just under 20 fantasy points/game on 70% of all backfield opportunities, Chuba has exactly zero weekly finishes outside the top-12, on strong underpinning stats behind what I thought would be a questionable O-line (5.0 yards/attempt, 52.0% success rate, 9.8% explosive rush). Speaking of which, Carolina’s potentially returning their best big man in the trenches, OT Taylor Moton. Rested and healthy, the Panthers will project with strength against an Eagles’ defensive front struggling to get to the QB (32.0% pressure, 6 sacks, 3.3% sack rate, 9.4% sack/pressure%).
Did somebody mention returning to action? Jalen Coker, Carolina’s breakout third-year UDFA, was spotted at practice with an eye on the Eagles, plus a chance to build off a very impressive start to 2026 (17.4 points/game, 7.3 targets/game, 24.2% target/route, 2.44 yards/route). Alongside similarly dominant Tetairoa McMillan (18.6 points/game, 9.8 targets/game, 23.8% target/route, 2.35 yards/route), there’s a built-in one-two WR punch fit to challenge even Philadelphia’s tough secondary of Riq Woolen, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean. (whispers) For my money, Carolina’s easily the better offense in this game.
- Start: Bryce Young (QB12), Chuba Hubbard (RB12), Tetairoa McMillan (WR12)
- Sit: Darren Waller (TE14)
- Sleeper: Jalen Coker (WR17)
Philadelphia Eagles Fantasy Preview For Week 6
Linemakers must’ve clearly believed in the saying “home sweet home” holds major weight by initially making the Eagles a favorite after three straight clunkers on offense. Since facing Chicago in Week 3 (followed immediately by losing DeVonta Smith), the winless Eagles macros tanked, ranking 30th or worse in PPG (14.7), plays/game (54.7), yards/game (217.3), success rate (37.2%), and EPA/play (-25). Strongest case here’s obviously regression-based with the entire offense’s trajectory heading in the completely wrong direction.
Philly’s entire modus operandi throughout this mini dynastic run’s predicated on bullying the opposition via the O-line and a dynamic ground game. Well, when you trade Cam Jurgens, lose Lane Johnson, then Saquon Barkley, then Tank Bigsby, and most recently Will Shipley, you can almost see PHI’s wheels starting to wobble. Sure, journeyman retread Dameon Pierce’s 100% snap share after Shipley’s departure will raise some fantasy eyebrows, and he’s worthy of an add — just keep any expectations tempered heavily.
Without Hurts in the lineup, I imagine we’ll see Tanner McKee under center. The former sixth-rounder out of Stanford has just two career starts, both in Week 18, averaging just over 15 fantasy points/game with a minimum of 41 dropbacks in each. Some of us remember him as a preseason darling, but with so little to go on, there’s no telling what to expect on such short notice.
Without a clear WR1 in the last two contests (and now no QB), it was neither Dontayvion Wicks nor Makai Lemon to step up, but third-year UDFA out of Tarleton State, Darius Cooper, racking up efficient back-to-back top-20 WR finishes. Go figure. Despite trailing his counterparts in total opportunities, Cooper posted an 87% route participation rate in that same timeframe, including the lion’s share of 12-personnel snaps on decent advanced metrics (15.4% target/route, 1.60 yards/route). Point being, the receiver room’s a mess on any given Sunday outside of Dallas Goedert, the TE11 in fantasy points/game (11.6)
- Start: Dontayvion Wicks (WR39), Dallas Goedert (TE11)
- Sit: Dameon Pierce (RB28), Makai Lemon (WR44)
- Sleeper: Darius Cooper (WR106)
