NFL Week 7 features one of the best Sunday Night Football matchups of the entire season. The defending champion Seattle Seahawks will play host to the Kansas City Chiefs. Both squads are among the favorites to win their respective conferences this season, so it’s a potential Super Bowl preview.

Kansas City enters this game at a perfect 5-0, and they had an early bye in Week 5. That said, they’re still dealing with some crucial injuries. Rashee Rice will miss his second consecutive contest, while offensive tackle Josh Simmons was placed on IR.

The Seahawks are merely 3-3, but they’ve had to navigate a very tough schedule. Their three losses are also by a combined eight points, and one of them was in overtime. The Seahawks will also benefit from some additional time off heading into this contest after playing on Thursday Night Football. However, they also have some big potential absences, with Nick Emmanwori and Demarcus Lawrence both listed as questionable.

Let’s dive into all the NFL betting angles for this marquee contest.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Kansas City Chiefs Betting Odds For Week 7

  • Spread: Seahawks -3.0 (-102; DraftKings)
  • Moneyline: Seahawks -142; Chiefs +130
  • Game Total: 42.5

The Chiefs are one of just three undefeated teams left standing, though it’s hard to call what they’ve done super impressive. They’ve had one of the easiest schedules in football through five weeks, racking up wins vs. the Broncos, Colts, Dolphins, Raiders and Chargers. It hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing, either. They needed overtime to outlast Indianapolis, while they beat the Raiders by just three.

This will be easily their biggest test of the season. The Seahawks are No. 2 in defensive EPA per play, and they’re No. 3 vs. the run. That could be a huge factor. The Chiefs have relied heavily on Kenneth Walker and the ground game to keep the chains moving this season. They’re first in the league in rushing yards per game but slip to ninth in passing yards.

Of course, Patrick Mahomes is still more than capable of doing damage with his arm. The revitalized run game has propelled Mahomes to his best efficiency numbers in years. He’s averaged 8.6 adjusted yards per attempt, which is his best mark since the 2019-20 season. That was back when Tyreek Hill was still in town.

Whether or not Mahomes can maintain that efficiency if the Seahawks can slow down Walker is one of the big question marks in this contest. The fact that he won’t have Rice available as a receiver is a clear detriment. They’re also down Tyquan Thornton at receiver, leaving just Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce as trustworthy pass-catchers.

The big question for Seattle involves their quarterback. Their offense has taken a big step back compared to last season, dipping from third in points per game to 13th and eighth in yards per game to 17th. Losing Walker has definitely hurt—the team ranks 30th in EPA per rush—but turnovers from Sam Darnold have been the biggest issue. His interception rate sits at a career-worst 4.7%, which has killed a lot of drives prematurely.

It puts Darnold under the spotlight for the time being. He changed the narrative about himself with his play last year, but some are starting to wonder if that was a mirage. The team went 2-0 with Drew Lock under center, and his efficiency numbers are worlds better than Darnold’s. If Darnold doesn’t start playing better, some are going to start calling for his job.

The good news is that whoever is at QB for Seattle gets to throw to the best receiver in football. I’m not even sure there’s a debate about that at this point. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has separated himself from the rest of the pack, combining volume and efficiency in a way that very few ever have.

Getting the ball to JSN could be even more appealing than usual in this matchup. L’Jarius Sneed is questionable with a knee injury, and if he’s unable to suit up, the Chiefs could really struggle to slow down Smith-Njigba.

Prediction & Pick For Seahawks vs. Chiefs Week 7 Matchup

  • The Pick: Chiefs +3.0 (-115; FanDuel)

I have gone back and forth on this selection, and I ultimately think the line is spot on. I leaned toward the Seahawks when they were -2.5, but I prefer the Chiefs at +3.0.

On paper, I have no doubts that Seattle is the better team. If they play to the best of their ability, they should win this matchup.

That said, it’s tough to look past Mahomes in this spot. Good quarterbacks are typically elite bets when you can get them as underdogs, and Mahomes is no exception. During the regular season, Mahomes has posted a 9-3-1 mark when getting points. If he’s getting at least a full field goal, he’s a near-perfect 6-0-1.

It’s just hard to pass up that combination, especially with Darnold looking so shaky over the past few weeks. If I go down with Mahomes and Reid both in elite spots, I’m OK with it.

Best Player Prop Bet For Seahawks vs. Chiefs

Jalen Royals Over 2.5 Receptions (+135; BetMGM)

Jalen Royals was a fourth-round pick for the Chiefs in 2026, and he’s been thrust into a bigger role with Rice on the sidelines. He posted a career-best 84% route participation in Week 6, though it led to just an 8% target share overall.

Still, that resulted in four targets and two receptions in a game that the Chiefs led throughout. Mahomes attempted just 30 passes in that contest, and the team might have to crank that number up significantly vs. the Seahawks.

It gives Royals multiple paths to success in this matchup. He could get a larger share of targets, or the overall passing pie could be much bigger. I like that combination, especially at a +135 price tag.
