Five Guillotine Leagues™ 2026 Draft Targets: Jaxson Dart, Christian Watson & More
Danny Cross highlights five players to prioritize in your 2026 Guillotine Leagues™ drafts based on favorable early-season schedules and floor/ceiling combinations.
Most fantasy formats do not require you to nail your draft as Guillotine Leagues™ do. With one team guaranteed to hit the chopping block after Week 1 (and every week beyond), starting fast is critical.
That means sleepers and injury stashes are virtually a non-consideration in Guillotine Leagues™. Depth doesn't matter as much—stacking your Week 1 lineup with guaranteed contributors is the goal. You'll be able to replenish depth every week when an entire team hits the waiver wire.
As such, here are five players to draft in 2026 Guillotine Leagues™. These players offer some combination of positional value, a hefty expected Week 1 workload and a solid matchup.
Keep in mind that Guillotine Leagues™ have eight starters and six reserves, and the starting lineup is: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 FLEX (RB/WR/TE).
Five Players To Draft in 2026 Guillotine Leagues™
Jaxson Dart | QB | NYG
In Guillotine Leagues™, the Week 1 positional rankings mean nearly as much for onesie positions (QB/TE) as season-long projections.
In this one-QB format, waiting on quarterbacks is absolutely the play. And you can potentially be the last manager in your league to take a QB and still land Dart, who averaged 20.6 PPG (QB6) in games he started last year as a rookie.
The second-year man gets a friendly matchup at home against a Dallas Cowboys defense that allowed a league-worst 30.1 PPG last season and 251.5 passing yards per game (also worst). The Cowboys did spend two first-round picks on that side of the ball in safety Caleb Downs and defensive end Malachi Lawrence, but those additions are unlikely to bear much fruit as soon as Week 1. Plus, the Cowboys' offense is looking forward to its matchup against a Giants defense that struggled last year and sent away star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence in the offseason.
If you miss out on Dart, consider the following QBs going outside the consensus top-12: Matthew Stafford (QB14), Bo Nix (QB15), Jared Goff (QB16).
Travis Etienne | RB | NO
The late-second and early-third round is a sweet spot for RBs right now, with Jeremiyah Love (ADP: 24), Breece Hall (26), Travis Etienne (30) and Kyren Williams (31) each set for significant Week 1 workloads.
Etienne is particularly intriguing considering the Saints' $48 million investment in the 27-year-old coming off an RB10 season. While there are some questions about Etienne's pass-game viability with Alvin Kamara still around, he is clearly the more complete back and should see plenty of opportunities near the goal line. The Saints have an ascending offense under head coach Kellen Moore and paid up for Etienne, who has an overall RB3 season on his resume.
The Saints' Week 1 visit to Detroit opened with the third-highest game total (48.5) on the slate. There should be plenty of fantasy points to go around.
Cam Skattebo | RB | NYG
See the New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys notes above …
Skattebo represents one of the final opportunities to draft a true dual-threat back in 2026 fantasy drafts.
As a rookie, the 5-foot-11, 215-pound back averaged 19.1 fantasy points per game in six starts before shredding his ankle in Week 8. All signs point to a full recovery by Week 1, when Skattebo and Dart are expected to keep the good times rolling for the GMen.
Skattebo is a fine selection in redraft leagues at his current price and an even better one in Guillotine Leagues™, considering the Week 1 matchup and bell-cow potential.
Christian Watson | WR | GB
Guillotine Leagues™ are a full-PPR format, making wide receivers quite important. And while Watson isn't a screen merchant guaranteed to rack up cheap points, he offers way more upside as the team's clear WR1 with explosive-play and multi-TD potential.
Head coach Matt LaFleur has overseen a quality offense that just let Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks leave in the offseason, freeing up around 130 targets. Watson came back from an ACL repair to earn a team-high 22% of targets from Week 10 on last season. He's clearly the team's No. 1 WR, ahead of only Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed and Tucker Kraft, the tight end coming off a serious injury himself.
Watson is one of the best mid-round picks in redraft this season, and there's no reason why his legitimate No. 1 WR role won't materialize as soon as Week 1.
Michael Pittman | WR | PIT
By Rounds 7 and 8 of Guillotine Leagues™ drafts, everyone starts to get nervous about the final couple of starting players in their Week 1 lineups.
But Pittman is a quality WR set for a significant route share on his new team. Our fantasy football projections actually have the 28-year-old former Colt a couple of points ahead of Watson in baseline season-long expectation—yet he's coming off the board 30 picks later.
Pittman represents the opposite of Watson—a player who should benefit from operating underneath while DK Metcalf clears out space. The shell of Aaron Rodgers posted just a 6.4-yard aDOT last year, which ranked 42nd out of 45 QBs who attempted 100 passes.
The 42-year-old clearly does not enjoy hanging around in the pocket anymore, and Pittman should benefit from quick looks and checkdowns, even if the splash plays are unlikely to materialize often.
