What To Do If You Drafted De'Von Achane in Fantasy Football: Ollie Gordon Value & More

De'Von Achane is officially out for the season ... what should you do if you drafted him in fantasy football? Let's dive in.

It’s official: De’Von Achane’s 2026 campaign is over. After leaving yesterday’s game early in the first quarter, he’s now been diagnosed with a torn ACL that will keep him out through the remainder of the season.

If you drafted Achane in the first or second round … first, I am sorry. Losing one of your top picks early in the year immediately puts you behind the eight ball when it comes to your chances of winning your league. That being said—the season is FAR from over, and I’m here to help you navigate what to do next. Time to lock in.

What To Do If You Drafted De'Von Achane After His Torn ACL

Attack the Waiver Wire Aggressively - Ollie Gordon & More

With Achane out, all eyes in your league are shifting to the next man up in the Miami backfield. The conversation here is between Ollie Gordon and Jaylen Wright. I wrote up Ollie Gordon as my #1 target at any position in my Week 4 waiver wire column because I view him as the favorite to receive the majority of carries, and I think he has the higher ceiling between the two.

After Achane left the game, Gordon was the only RB to receive a carry. The counting stats weren’t great —Gordon took 17 carries for 41 yards (2.4 YPC) but he found his way into the end zone and showed some involvement in the receiving game with three catches for 14 yards. He finished with 14.6 expected fantasy points, good for RB18 on the week (pending MNF).

It’s worth noting that Jaylen Wright was inactive this week while dealing with a foot injury, so we didn’t get the full picture of what a potential split could look like going forward. Wright could definitely still be involved, but we have a pretty solid sample of him being largely ineffective at the NFL level at this point. I want to bet on Gordon continuing to consolidate work in this backfield.

Lastly, prepare to also bid on the other available handcuff RBs on your wire —particularly Braelon Allen (and Alvin Kamara, if available). Both of these guys should slot right into a startable RB2 role if the starters in their respective offenses miss time.

TLDR: Prioritize Ollie Gordon and be willing to pay up. Put in another (lower) bid on Jaylen Wright as well as an insurance policy. Aggressively pursue other handcuff RBs off the wire (i.e. Braelon Allen) as well.

Find Other Ways to Bolster Your RB Room

If you didn’t start your draft RB-heavy (for instance, maybe you went hero RB and started your draft with Achane as your only RB through 6 rounds) you’re going to need to start working the phones with some trade offers. Now is the time to potentially tier down from one of the other positions into a strong RB. Maybe you have 3+ WR1/2s or an elite QB—can we take any of these guys and turn them into an RB1 with strong utilization through three weeks? If you have multiple strong TE options, can we turn one of them into a weekly RB2? Something like this can help get your lineup back in order quickly.

Remember not to trade just for the sake of trading—the offer needs to make sense. I don’t want to panic-trade off of my studs for a middling RB2 or RB3 going forward—those are the types of guys you can get off the waiver wire.

TLDR: Explore potential trades off of other positions of surplus on your roster into RBs (level of RB depends on what surplus you have).

Final closing thought: adversity breeds excellence. There is no better feeling in fantasy football than pulling off a championship run after losing one of your stars, because it’s almost impossible to luck your way into it. Get up, dust yourself off, and go prove to your leaguemates that you’re the sharpest manager out there!
