Week 9 Quarterback Streamers For Fantasy Football: Kyler Murray's Matchup Could Mean A Shootout

Jorge Martin drops back with the quarterback streamers for fantasy football in Week 9.

Welcome to Week 9, and it’s starting to get serious in those fantasy streets. Teams are really starting to separate themselves. And if you’re looking to make a charge for the playoffs, we’ll ride shotgun with you. We also get a bit of a break on the teams on bye, with only superflex teams likely using Aaron Rodgers and very few, if any, teams have started Cam Ward. But we can always use a temporary upgrade for a week.

Let’s get into some streamers. As always with quarterbacks, we’ll mine the fantasy football rankings for players outside the top 12. Make sure to check out our fantasy football projections to get further confirmation why these players are targets. Lastly, all stats versus each position group listed below are from our wonderful DvP tool and any utilization data came from our UR Score.

Quarterback Streamers for Week 9

Malik Willis | Dolphins vs. Lions

This is two weeks in a row for Willis on this list, and with him hitting 20+ fantasy points in two of three weeks, it’s warranted. He’s thrown for at least 208 yards and 2 scores in each of the past two weeks, and even added a rushing TD in Week 8. The Lions remain the top team in fantasy points allowed to QBs, with 297.7 passing yards allowed on average. The one time the Lions faced an elite rusher at QB was Josh Allen in Week 2. He stuck them for 69 yards and 2 TDs. The Lions figure to score in bunches, so Willis will need to keep up any way possible.

Sam Darnold | Seahawks vs. Cardinals

Darnold passed for 257 or more yards in each of Weeks 6 and 7, and now gets a home matchup with the Cardinals, who have been better of late against QBs. Give them that. In the last three games they’ve held QBs to 222 or fewer passing yards. Matthew Stafford and Dak Prescott were in there. But if you need a streamer, it never hurts to get one at home throwing it to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Kyler Murray | Vikings vs. Bills

As it’s been with Murray most of the season, it’s more about the matchup than his performance. While he has hit 210 yards or more in three of the last four games, it just hasn’t looked pretty. But he is running, with 35 or more yards in the last three games. And it’s the Bills, who have been gushing points to QBs except for the Joe Fagnano emergency QB experience last week. Josh Allen is one of those alien players who can push pretty much any defense, even one as good as the Vikings. He’s been great indoors, so if he can score on the Vikings, Murray will need to punch back.
