Week 3 Running Back Streamers For Fantasy Football: Alvin Kamara Returns

We’re on to Week 3, and we have just enough data to be dangerous. Of course, making sense of the Bears going from 59 to a field goal a week later, um, let’s not even try. Though Mother Nature did remind us to check on the weather reports before setting lineups.

Let’s get into some streamers. As always with running backs, we’ll mine the fantasy football rankings for players outside the top 24. Make sure to check out our fantasy football projections to get further confirmation why these players are targets.

RB Streamers for Week 3 in Fantasy Football

Jonah Coleman | Broncos vs. Rams 

This is a “next man up” situation, as RJ Harvey missed Week 2 with a hamstring injury while starter J.K. Dobbins suffered a hamstring injury of his own. The rookie Jonah Coleman and Dobbins ended up with 10 carries apiece, easily leading the Denver backfield.

Considering Dobbins’ injury history, Coleman is a must add on the waiver wire. The 3.9 YPC against the Jaguars’ tough run D is nothing to get excited about, but this is a volume play. The Rams coming to Denver, there is the chance the defense could battle some Mile High fatigue, especially considering the long travel to and from Australia to open the season.

Alvin Kamara | Saints vs. Raiders

So maybe the 22 scrimmage yards on 15 touches isn’t the greatest. It was Alvin Kamara’s first NFL action of the season, after all. What makes one take notice is that he actually out-touched presumed starter Travis Etienne, 14-10. What did the Saints pay all this money for? 

Kamara being on 29% of rosters is no surprise, considering he was out much of training camp. That number should jump, and the Raiders did just allow 115 scrimmage yards to Omarion Hampton. Kamara won’t dominate touches, but he might get enough to score a TD as a streaming flex play.

Woody Marks | Texans at Colts

Woody Marks drew 8 rushing attempts to just 6 for David Montgomery. Not a misprint. Marks was supposed to be the passing-down back who took a few rush attempts off Monty’s hands. With the Texans passing 55 times to just 18 rush attempts, that’s why Montgomery’s carries were down, but doesn’t explain why he got less than Marks.

With Marks getting a more even amount of work, at least for this week, there’s the possibility that he keeps it going against the Colts, who have allowed big games to Derrick Henry and Jonathan Taylor. Marks is nowhere near their level, but he could be a flex play in a road game against a good offense in the Colts.
