Training camp is in full swing, and there’s a constant flow of news, updates, and developments pouring in from around the league that will impact fantasy football. Let’s take a look at a few noteworthy storylines from Wednesday that could quietly move the needle as fantasy football draft season ramps up.

Training Camp News and Updates Impacting Fantasy Football

PHI_eagles-logo.svg Eagles: Soft-Tissue Issues and Shifting Targets

Tim McManus reported that Eagles rookie WR Makai Lemon was “jogging off the field” and did not practice for a second straight day because of a hamstring injury. It’s been documented that Lemon has dealt with soft‑tissue issues over the last month or two. While it appears precautionary—he was seen jogging in a video, and it’s only early August—it’s still not ideal.

Lemon not only needs to learn how to play at an NFL pace and digest a new offense, but the entire team is learning a new offensive scheme under first‑year play‑caller Sean Mannion. The Eagles were very run‑heavy last year. Even if Mannion opens things up a bit, you have to wonder whether they lean on Saquon Barkley more with a rookie as their possible No. 2 option.

I understand the DeVonta Smith hype, but the price gap between Smith and Lemon has been a big part of Lemon’s appeal. With Lemon missing time and those soft‑tissue rumblings already on the record, I wouldn’t be in a rush to click his name in high‑stakes formats if your fantasy draft is today. I’m still fine filling my best ball portfolio with exposure, but my panic meter is sitting around a 5 out of 10, not zero.

Jeff McLane also reported that Smith did not practice due to a hamstring of his own. Between Lemon and Smith both dealing with hamstrings, those late‑round clicks on Dontayvion Wicks get more appealing by the hour. Dallas Goedert looks underappreciated at cost, too—if the Eagles’ receiving corps stays banged up, Jalen Hurts’ long‑standing rapport with Goedert makes him a sneaky beneficiary.

CIN_bengals-logo.svg Bengals: Chase Brown “All Over the Formation”

Paul Dehner Jr., senior writer for The Athletic, noted that the Bengals’ offense “looks different through six practices” and has looked sluggish at times—partially by design. Multiple outlets (Underdog, Sleeper, and others) have highlighted one of the biggest nuggets from Dehner: the Bengals are using Chase Brown “all over the formation.”

That’s exactly the kind of camp note you want to pay attention to when you’re staring at that second tier of running backs in the mid‑to‑late second round. Brown is the one playing in a high‑octane offense with zero defense who could exceed ADP and be a league winner, especially with Joe Burrow back.

Personally, I think he’s getting overlooked, especially in PPR. He has already shown he’s a quality pass catcher, and if that “all over the formation” usage holds, the workload could be more creative than people expect.

CHI_bears-logo.svg Bears: Year 2 Under Ben Johnson, Monangai Update

Bears reporter Zack Pearson mentioned that Caleb Williams had a monster day, which just adds fuel to the “Year 2 in a Ben Johnson offense” fire for Chicago’s skill players. You’re going to pay a price for Bears pieces—especially Colston Loveland—but the environment looks ripe for fantasy production.

Fellow Bears reporter Josh Buckhalter reported that Kyle Monangai said he felt good and was working his way back from the soft‑tissue injury that sidelined him. In theory, I love Monangai as a value, especially his ability to get goal‑line work. I really think he can be the David Montgomery in this offense to D’Andre Swift —a high‑upside second fiddle with big standalone value if something happens to Swift.

Pearson also noted that Monangai caught a pass from Williams in seven‑on‑seven, which dials up the excitement even more. If Monangai earns a meaningful receiving role, his value climbs. I love that ADP range in the 90s for best ball, loaded with potential league winners: Monangai, Blake Corum, Kenny Gainwell, Jonathon Brooks. Seeing Monangai back on the field is exactly what you want to see if you’ve been targeting that pocket.

ATL_falcons-logo.svg Falcons: Jalon Walker’s ACL

In Atlanta, second-year linebacker Jalon Walker was confirmed to have suffered an ACL tear following his injury on Tuesday, as reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. From a pure fantasy standpoint, this isn’t a headline‑level story, but it’s another huge blow to the team’s defense. Walker tallied 5.5 sacks in his rookie year.
