Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Cleveland Browns Matchup Breakdown For Week 2 Fantasy Football
John Laghezza breaks down everything you need to know for fantasy football ahead of the Buccaneers vs. Browns Week 2 matchup.
Officially writing this preview under protest — I’m genuinely considering being forced to think about these Browns as cruel and unusual punishment. Kidding aside, they’re even worse than we could’ve imagined, and now they get to face a hungry and healthy Baker Mayfield off a tough loss. Look out below …

Cleveland Browns Fantasy Preview
No. Honestly, just no. Fine, I’ll take this as seriously as the Browns treat their QB situation, which, in case you haven’t heard … is Deshaun Watson again. Hooray! Somehow, someway, Watson may have actually gotten worse from the last time we saw him, often looking skittish and inaccurate (+18% off-target rate), despite completing +72% of passes — plus the interception thrown was both awful and unsurprising.
If not for a miracle long completion deep into garbage time accounting for a chunk of total production, Watson would’ve done more harm to your fantasy team than good. Sure, that lovely explosive play to Denzel Boston raises an antenna for what could be; there’s just not enough here to sink our fantasy teeth into.
KC Concepcion posted strong underpinning stats (25.0% target/route, 2.15 yards/route), but remains a low-floor, low-ceiling combination until things change under center. As for everyone else? No one should blame you for loading up the entire Browns’ fantasy bus for a trip to Drop City.
Hold onto Harold Fannin for the time being, but his managers’ worst fears are now realized. Without a high volume of plays, splitting those underneath targets with Concepcion due to role redundancy will only hinder his once-prominent role. Now we find ourselves waiting to be rescued by (checks notes) Shedeur Sanders, and wondering if that’s even a path worth taking (probably not).
And sure, the backup RB role on the league’s worst offense doesn't matter much, if at all — unless, of course, it’s a highly skilled pass-catching handcuff potentially (like Dylan Sampson) blocking Quinshon Judkins from a bellcow role. Except this is the Browns we’re talking about!
So, of course, when Sampson suffers a serious knee injury on special teams, he gets replaced apples-to-apples by Raheim Sanders, who out-targeted Judkins to our dismay. Womp womp. Not sure why Judkins keeps getting iced out of the receiving game, but he’s bordering on unstartable until something changes.
- Start: KC Concepcion (WR51)
- Sit: And think about what you’ve done if you’re still drafting Browns in 2026
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fantasy Preview
Boomer bettors call it a get-right spot, and this time they’ve hit the nail on the head. Tampa just suffered a loss at the hands of the new-look Bengals, but now gets to face the woeful Browns’ non-existent pass rush and third-worst defensive EPA/play (-0.28). Giddy up.
For starters, Baker looked accurate and on schedule, completing over 81% of passes, while showing the same general willingness to run. He went for (4-30-1) on the ground, and even nearly scored a second time. For fantasy purposes, we’re into every bit of this, except for the unusually low target depth. Some of that’s explained by DJ Turner lurking in the secondary — just something to watch out for going forward.
Bucs’ pass catchers split not only targets but routes almost identically. Though no one broke out in Week 1, stay encouraged on all three starting wideouts, including our biggest surprise of the weekend, Ted Hurst. Tampa’s heavy use of 11-personnel, plus an extremely low rotation rate, found all three earning wideouts run at least 30 routes, essentially checking a box for flex viability down the road.
Cleveland did absolutely nothing against the Jaguars, posting Week 1’s worst tackle success rate (39.1%), fewest number of QB pressures (6), while allowing the most passing TDs (4). New rule going forward: start everyone you can and half the players you can’t against the Browns. Beatings will continue until morale improves.
- Start: Bucky Irving (RB14), Emeka Egbuka (WR22), Baker Mayfield (QB18), Chris Godwin (WR33)
- Sit: Cade Otton (TE23), Kenneth Gainwell (RB39)
- Sleeper: Ted Hurst (WR81)
Next Week’s Bold Headlines, Today
- Dear Cleveland brass, throw the damn towel! Pretty please, with sugar on top, replace Deshaun Watson at QB. No Brown will achieve a top-24 positional fantasy finish while he’s under center.
- Tampa resembles the most competent version of themselves from 2024, featuring bellcow RB1 Bucky Irving (unless Sean Tucker returns, that is).
