Late-Round Wide Receivers to Draft in Fantasy Football: Year 2 Matthew Golden Leap Incoming?

When attacking your fantasy draft, scooping up a bunch of dart throws at wide receiver is what most, if not all, fantasy managers will be doing in the double-digit rounds. This is where people grabbed Amon-Ra St. Brown as a rookie.

It’s also the place to take players who may have received a bit of hype coming out of college, but maybe they didn’t become the immediate stars that their draft status may have had us expecting. Here are some players who may appear to be low in our fantasy football rankings, but they should be considerations for the bench on your roster. Because like with the Sun God, you just never know.

Which Late-Round WRs to Target in Fantasy Football Drafts?

Romeo Doubs | Patriots

So much has been made out of A.J. Brown’s acquisition by the Patriots, it’s pretty easy to look at Romeo Doubs as something of an afterthought. He’s not. We have AJB projected for 131 targets this season, so someone has to get chunk of the rest of the pie, as Drake Maye again will throw around 500 times—fantasy football projections have him at 482—and a good number of them will go to Doubs

The Patriots’ WR room got more shallow when Kayshon Boutte was traded to Houston. That firmly cements Doubs as the second option in what should be a highly efficient passing game. We have him projected for 93 targets this season, but it would not be a surprise to see him surpass 100 as his connection with Maye starts to heat up. In the 11th round? Let’s go.

Jordan Addison | Vikings

We like Kyler Murray a lot this season, right? Everything points to this being the best offensive situation for the 2019 No. 1 overall pick. Expert playcaller in Kevin O’Connell. One of the two or three best WRs on the planet in Justin Jefferson. Indoor home games. Like with Doubs, someone has to be targeted on the 20+ passes a game that don’t go to J-Jettas.

Enter Jordan Addison. The 2021 Biletnikoff Award winner for the top WR in college football, Addison has been Robin to Jefferson’s Batman since entering the league. The third-year WR had a route rate of 90% and a stellar ADOT of 14.5. That should translate to better production from a coached-up Murray taking a step forward. Addison’s projected for 95 targets, but he’s another player where that number could climb with improvement from Murray.

Matthew Golden | Packers

Welp, those 44 targets in 14 games sure didn’t look great for the surprise first-rounder in the 2025 NFL Draft. What did look good is the 4-84-1 line that Matthew Golden hung up on the Bears in the playoffs last season. Recency bias has a way of hitting with the fantasy community.

What we have here is one of the fastest players in the NFL, and a WR room that has become more condensed with the departures of Dontayvion Wicks and Doubs. Again, we have a first-round talent tied to one of the better QBs in Jordan Love, and they play in a system schemed up by Matt LaFleur. Golden is projected for 95 targets, and his is another arrow that could go up with a Year 2 leap.

Xavier Worthy | Chiefs

America loves a redemption story, right? Enter Xavier Worthy, he of the injured shoulder on one of the first plays of the 2025 season. We were so excited about his potential after he scored a pair of garbage-time TDs in the previous Super Bowl.

But, really, all that had us excited last year about him is still in place. It starts with Patrick Mahomes, and even though he’s coming off a torn ACL, who remembers him going on a Super Bowl run while nursing an injured ankle a few seasons ago? Andy Reid is still calling the plays, and Eric Bieniemy returning as the OC has drawn raves from the players.

Rashee Rice should still be the main target earner, but Worthy could be the main beneficiary of Kenneth Walker’s arrival. What have defenses done in recent years to combat Mahomes’ incredible talents? Drop defenders to take away the deep ball. If they do that, K-9 will eat them up. With defenses having to respect the Chiefs’ run game for the first time in what feels like forever, what would you say to taking a shot on Mahomes’ deep threat in the double-digit rounds?
