Justin Jefferson Is Primed For Return To Elite WR Status For Fantasy Football

Ian Hartitz breaks down the Minnesota Vikings WR group, featuring Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison at the top..

We don't ask for much in fantasy football land. Fewer injuries (never) and Justin Jefferson to get 150+ targets where he can catch maybe 100 or more. In other words, Kyler Murray, the ball's in your court to put the ball in J-Jettas' hands. Ian Hartitz breaks it down as part of his Minnesota Vikings Team Preview.

MIN_vikings-logo.svg Is 2026 a year of redemption for Justin Jefferson?

Hopefully! It didn't seem possible for Jefferson to sink as low as he did last season, but it happened.

Jefferson PPR points per game:

  • 2020: 17.1 (WR9)
  • 2021: 19.4 (WR4)
  • 2022: 21.7 (WR2)
  • 2023: 20.2 (WR5)
  • 2024: 18.7 (WR3)
  • 2025: 11.9 (WR29)

Overall, Jefferson has averaged just 48 receiving yards per game with J.J. McCarthy at QB. That's quite the far cry from guys like Kirk Cousins (99), Carson Wentz (95), Sam Darnold (90) and hell, even Nick Mullens (66).

Now, not ALL of the McCarthy-Jefferson mishaps were necessarily on nine, but plenty were, and he ultimately posted a career-low 66% catchable target rate. Note that Kyler Murray has never had an "on-target rate" under 75% since his rookie season. It's hard to not get excited about a potential big-time improvement ahead of 2026—Jefferson is a consensus top-6 receiver and Round 1 pick amongst the Fantasy Life rankers.

And then there's Jordan Addison, who also suffered from this up and (mostly) down passing attack. Reminder: Addison flashed some serious highs during the first two seasons of his career.

  • Addison's 19 receiving TDs are tied for the fifth most during the first two seasons of their career since 1998. This is pretty special company!
  • In 2024, Addison scored the fifth-most PPR points of any WR during Weeks 9-17—just behind his friend Justin Jefferson.
  • Overall, Addison posted WR30 and WR23 finishes in PPR points per game during his first two career seasons.

This is a damn good football player!

While the target ceiling here is capped as the Robin to Jefferson's Batman, Addison's WR4 price tag feels far closer to his floor than ceiling. Note that Addison is still just 24 years old and isn't facing any suspension risk ahead of next season.

As for Jauan Jennings: The longtime badass blocker also proved capable of doing some good things as a receiver during the past two seasons in the 49ers' high-flying offensive attack. That said, there's a decent chance he's the No. 4 pass-game option in this Minnesota offense—it's not a great sign that he failed to gain much interest on the open market and had to settle for a one-year, $8 million deal. I'd rather target handcuff running backs than Jennings at his current Round 13 ADP.
