A journeyman throughout his collegiate career, Germie Bernard’s next stop is the pros, landing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. An inside-out dynamic playmaker, Bernard is just as effective on the ground as he is through the air, giving the Steelers a creative playmaker to help bolster their offense. If he can continue to develop as a pass catcher, then expect Bernard to climb up the fantasy boards in the years to come.

After playing behind NFL talent at Washington, Bernard followed his head coach, Kalen DeBoer, to Alabama and instantly saw a spike in his production. While he did have to compete with Ryan Williams, Bernard was able to still carve out a role in their offense, finishing his 2025 campaign with 64 receptions for 862 yards and 7 touchdowns.

At the next level, Bernard will need to continue to develop as a pass catcher if he wants to move up the depth charts. His lack of vertical speed makes it tough for him to create separation, forcing him to compete for catches. When contested, Bernard has underwhelmed, hauling in just 39% of his receptions. A potential massive issue at the next level when corners are faster than ever, making it difficult for Bernard to create the space he needs to haul in a catch.

Luckily for Bernard, he has flashed his dual-threat ability, masking his lack of usage through the air by racking up yards on the ground. If the Steelers can use him in creative ways, then he will be able to build a case for being on the field, potentially elevating himself up the depth chart as the season progresses.

Should You Plan to Draft Germie Bernard This Year?

A Tier 6 WR per our current rankings, Bernard finds himself in the same pool as Malik Washington and Elic Ayomanor with an ADP of 234.4. While Freedman believes in his upside by projecting him to be WR69, Dwain McFarland is more bearish, dropping him down to WR82. 

If you are in a deeper league, consider drafting Bernard with intentions of stashing him, buying yourself time to see if he can develop as a pass catcher to complement his rushing ability. If he can turn into a well-rounded weapon, then Bernard will jump up the depth chart, giving you a viable WR2/3 to lean on. In dynasty, target Bernard with the same philosophy, stashing him until he shows signs of consistency with his workload.

2026 Scouting Report For Germie Bernard

Laid out in McFarland’s Rookie Super Model, Bernard’s lack of production throughout the first two years of his career drops his overall rating, slotting him as WR9. In a log jam with the likes of Bryce Lance and Chris Bell, Bernard’s upside as a dual-threat playmaker makes him an intriguing prospect in this year’s class, potentially separating himself from his current position to rival the upper tier.

In order to take the next step with his development, Bernard will need to work on his mechanics on the line. His inability to break the press forces him to compete for catches, drastically lowering his chances of hauling in a reception. His lack of vertical quickness also makes it easier for his assignment to stay on his hip, taking him out of the play.

If Bernard can develop into a viable pass catcher, then he will cement himself as a weapon for the Steelers, giving them a dynamic playmaker who can be used in multiple ways. Should he start to command defensive attention, this will free up more space for Metcalf, elevating their offense as a whole.
