Drew Allar Fantasy Football Impact With the Pittsburgh Steelers
Matt LaMarca delivered the fantasy football impact after the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Drew Allar in the NFL Draft.
Turns out, the quarterback position is pretty important for football. #analysis. Two quarterbacks came off the board in Round 1, and we’ve seen two more so far in Round 3. That includes Drew Allar, who was selected 76th overall by the Steelers. Allar is a polarizing prospect, but should he be on your radar for fantasy purposes? Let’s dive in.
Drew Allar Fantasy Football Stock/Outlook With The Steelers
As far as rookie landing spots, Pittsburgh is one of the best possible for quarterbacks this season. They don’t currently have an established starter on the roster, with Mason Rudolph and Will Howard serving as the only competition. Of course, there’s still a good chance that Aaron Rodgers returns for at least one more year, which would make Allar more of a future stash than a potential starter in 2026.
If Rodgers does stay away, Allar would have a decent complement of weapons at his disposal. DK Metcalf remains one of the league’s most intimidating physical presences at receiver, while the dependable Michael Pittman Jr. was acquired in a trade this offseason. Add in Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle in the backfield and Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington at tight end, and you could do a whole lot worse for a supporting cast.
Ultimately, the odds are that Allar won’t see a ton of playing time in 2026. But the fact that the Steelers drafted him in the third round puts him on the radar for dynasty leagues. Particularly in superflex formats, Allar’s stock should be on the rise.
Should You Plan to Draft Drew Allar this year?
In redraft leagues, the answer is a pretty clear “no.” Most rookie QBs tend to struggle right out of the gates, and Allar is far from an elite prospect.
The bigger question is, where should Allar come off the board in dynasty leagues? He was the fourth quarterback selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, and he was at one point considered a can’t-miss future NFL player. Given the fact that the Steelers don’t really have a “QB of the future” on the roster, he’s at least a somewhat-interesting stash. My personal interest will be more in superflex leagues than 1-QB drafts, but I’d personally take him over Carson Beck. I think he has more upside, and he should have more support when he eventually takes the field.
2026 Scouting Report For Drew Allar
Here’s what Matthew Freedman had to say about Allar in his 2026 NFL Draft QB rankings:
“Allar's season-ending ankle injury and final-year regression (career-low 7.1 AY/A) will push him to Day 2, but he has Round 1 tools with a Sunday frame and a primetime arm. At 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, when he's clean, he's maybe the cohort's cleanest QB. His Kyle Trask comp is instructive—big body, big arm, production that never quite caught up to the profile. He's a Day 2 swing for traits.”
It’s easy to knock Allar for his subpar collegiate production, but the fact remains that he was once considered the No. 1 QB in his high school class (and No. 3 overall) per 247 Sports. He made 45 starts at Penn State, and that kind of experience can be extremely valuable.
Ultimately, it wouldn’t shock me if Allar ends up being this year’s Tyler Shough: a former top prospect with a long college career who revamps his stock at the NFL level.
