DJ Moore Dynasty Fantasy Football Trade Value: Getting The Josh Allen Boost
Sam Wallace analyzes the dynasty fantasy football trade value for DJ Moore now that he's playing with the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen.
Sometimes, you just want good things for good people. DJ Moore is in a long line of wide receivers we've wanted to have a better quarterback. Maybe even an elite QB. Here's the trade to the Buffalo Bills and All-Pro Josh Allen. Elite QB, Check. Does that raise his trade value in dynasty fantasy football? Let's check it out.Â
DJ Moore's Trade Value in Dynasty Fantasy Football
DJ Moore | WR | Bills
I started really getting into the fantasy football content creation space back when Moore was part of the 2018 rookie class. I've long had an affinity for Moore (and fellow rookie Calvin Ridley) as I felt we "joined" at the same time. Now eight years later, we're finally getting what dynasty fantasy football managers have long been waiting for:
Moore is about to play with an elite QB for the first time in his career. What does that mean for his dynasty value? Let's take a closer look.
A quick search reveals that Moore has played with 11 QBs in his career. Here's the list:
- Cam Newton
- Taylor Heinicke
- Kyle Allen
- Will Grier
- Teddy Bridgewater
- P.J. Walker
- Sam Darnold
- Baker Mayfield
- Justin Fields
- Tyson Bagent
- Caleb Williams
While a few decent names pop up, it's not exactly the greatest QB list I've ever seen. Josh Allen clears this entire list by a mile and then some. Does that automatically mean fantasy goodness is on tap for Moore?
The easy comparison is to look at the last time Allen played with a true No. 1 wideout. That would be Stefon Diggs and the four years he spent in Buffalo (2020-2023). During that time, Diggs finished as a top-10 WR in PPR formats all four years and averaged:
- 161 targets
- 111 receptions
- 1,349 receiving yards
- 9 TDs
- 246 PPR
It's going to be hard for Moore to replicate those types of numbers, especially for that many years. To be fair, Moore has been quite productive for much of his career despite sub-par play at the QB position. For a six-year stretch from 2019-2024, he averaged 135 targets and over 1,100 receiving yards. Will Buffalo feature him as its top option and feed him a ton of targets? Believe it or not, our projections don't think so. Here's how we project the Bills receiver room to look this fall.

In the two years following Diggs' departure, Khalil Shakir has stepped into the No. 1 role for the Bills offense. He certainly doesn't profile as your typical No. 1 option on a team, but the Bills have been so run-heavy the last few years—not even including Allen's rushing contributions—that they haven't really needed a 130+-target player.
I do find it interesting that we have Moore, despite being the top-option, barely cracking 100 targets across 16 games this season. It's possible he's starting to lose a step based on what we saw last season. In his final year with Chicago, despite playing in 17 games, Moore had career lows in receptions and receiving yards and the second-fewest targets. He wound up falling behind Luther Burden, Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland in the pecking order.
From a contract perspective, the Bears were paying far too much for Moore to be their fourth-best option. Moore is currently in the midst of a four-year, $110 million contract that runs through 2029. The Bills have long been accused of not getting enough help for their star QB so we'll see if this trade moves the needle for them in the AFC.
As for how this pertains to your dynasty fantasy football roster construction, Moore is currently valued as the WR39. I'm shocked it's that low, to be honest. Yes, he's getting close to that age-30 season, and last year was definitely a disappointment, but he has an extensive track record of being productive with poor QB play and he's remained incredibly healthy throughout his career.
If you can acquire Moore for WR39 prices, I'm all for it. However, if he does have a stretch of games this season where he's really popping off, he's a prime sell candidate for me in the near future. The move to Buffalo will boost his value and opportunities for a little while which means, unless I need him to compete for titles, I'll take advantage of the window opening again and capitalize on value while I can.
