Bo Nix Dynasty Fantasy Football Value: A Screaming Buy At The QB Position
Anthony Rodriguez, the resident Denver Broncos aficionado, breaks down why Bo Nix is one of the best buys at the QB position in dynasty leagues ahead of 2026.
Sometimes, dynasty fantasy football is no different than investing in the stock market. The best opportunities are often found when the market overreacts to short-term volatility. That's exactly what appears to have happened with Bo Nix.
One year ago, Nix was being valued as a top-seven dynasty quarterback. Today, he sits closer to QB12 despite producing back-to-back QB7 finishes, and has seen a four-position drop on KeepTradeCut over the last 30 days. If there was ever such a thing as buying the dip, this is it.
The appeal with Nix as a market play is that he has plenty of room to grow in value, and with Davis Webb taking over playcalling duties for the Broncos this season, we may be in store for the best version of Bo Nix yet.
Let's dive into why.
Why Bo Nix Is A Buy In Dynasty Fantasy Football
Nix earned himself a reputation for late-game heroics in comeback wins last season. A common theme in those games was Bo having up-and-down performances during the first and third quarters before becoming heroic as time expired.
The DNVR Podcast took a deep dive into Bo Nix's stats during those stretches of games and found that when the Broncos go up-tempo, run more no-huddle and operate from empty formations, Nix becomes a completely different quarterback:
- In the first 13 minutes of the second quarter, Nix averaged an 81.9 QBR. In the final two minutes of the quarter, that number jumped to 114.
- Nix posted an 83.5 passer rating in non-empty formations, compared to 101.8 in empty formations.
- Without tempo, Nix had a passer rating of 85.3, compared to 92.3 when operating with tempo.
- With a huddle, Nix had a passer rating of 88, compared to 91.6 without one.
As I mentioned earlier, Davis Webb is the new play caller for the Denver Broncos. Interviews all offseason from numerous players have discussed that under Webb, the offense has transitioned to shorter play calls, will operate with more tempo and will feature a more modern structure. Last Thursday was the first time Webb spoke to the media since earning his new role as offensive coordinator. One of the things that stood out most was his discussion on how he and the coaching staff identified what Nix was most successful at over the last two seasons and the desire to lean into those aspects of his game more.
So why is this important? Why does it matter for dynasty fantasy football?
The answer is one word: volume.
Volume is king in fantasy football. We are constantly searching for the highest-volume players at running back, wide receiver and tight end. Over his first two seasons, Bo Nix has led the NFL in pass attempts with 1,179. Last season alone, he racked up 612 attempts, more than Dak Prescott, Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff and Caleb Williams. I'm not blind to the fact that Nix has had stretches of inefficiency during games over the last two seasons. But even with those inefficiencies, his volume has earned him back-to-back QB7 finishes.
What happens if we get more up-tempo Bo Nix, whose passer rating jumps from 85.3 to 92.3?
What happens if we get more of the 101.8 passer-rating version of Bo Nix operating from empty formations?
We could be looking at a top-five quarterback finish while still being able to acquire him at QB12 prices.
It's simple. Buy the dip that's right in front of you.
Trading For Bo Nix In Dynasty Fantasy Football
With Nix still only 26 years old, he fits any roster build. If you're rebuilding, see if you can attach an early-2027 third-round pick to a quarterback like Cam Ward and acquire Nix.
If you're retooling or contending and need help elsewhere on your roster, explore tiering down from one of your elite quarterback assets to Nix and see what type of plus you can get on top. In six-point passing touchdown formats, only 2.59 fantasy points per game separated Bo Nix at QB7 from Drake Maye at QB2.
With QB7 appearing to be the floor and additional upside still available, now is the time to invest. Buy. The. Dip.
