DraftKings SNF Showdown Picks Week 3: Spend Up for Davante Adams?

We're ending our weekend off with a Sunday Night Football contest between the L.A. Rams and Denver Broncos. The Rams are 2.5-point favorites here on the road. I'm going to be breaking down the DraftKings DFS showdown that we have for this game.

First, I'll highlight some players I want to target in the captain spot, who get a 1.5x fantasy-point boost. High-upside players are who I want to target here, and the lower the ownership, the better. I will then break down some flex position plays that I like to round out your lineups. Let's dive into it!

DraftKings Week 3 SNF DFS Showdown Captain Picks | Rams vs. Broncos

Terrance Ferguson | TE | LAR ($5,700)

We're starting off this showdown breakdown with a complete misprice. With the absence of Puka Nacua, Terrance Ferguson gets a massive boost in all ways. He sees the field a bunch more and is way more involved in the passing game. He’s coming off of a six-reception, nine-target game with 54 yards and a TD. He is a near lock to be somewhere in your lineup Sunday. He is going to be higher-owned than you'd like to see from a value captain play, but in cash games it makes sense. It allows the rest of your lineup to be built very strongly. In GPPs it may be favorable to fade him at captain at this ownership.

Davante Adams | WR | LAR ($15,300)

Our showdown's highest-projected player, Davante Adams is my preferred spend-up at CPT. His ceiling is just too good to pass up on compared to the QBs. He showed that ceiling last week without Nacua, having 10 receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Adams has shown he is still in the highest tier of WRs in the league and is matchup-proof. He is peppered with targets all over the field, and his long-play ability is still among the best in the league. He's a different type of beast with Nacua off the field.

Jaylen Waddle | WR | DEN ($14,400)

My slightly lower-owned captain pick is Jaylen Waddle. He, as did the entire Broncos offense, had an awful Week 1 to start the year. He bounced back last week, however, with eight receptions on 10 targets for 138 yards. We saw a complete game script change for Week 2, with Waddle getting targeted on nearly 50% of his total routes, which is great for his outlook here. Week 1 was hopefully just a fluke, and Waddle is the far and away top option here for Denver. I like his upside here in the captain spot.

Bo Nix | QB | DEN ($10,000)

My preferred QB option here, Bo Nix looks like a core flex piece here. He is coming off a Week 2 performance vs. the Jaguars, throwing for 288 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. He didn't use his legs as much as we are accustomed to, but we know he has that in his arsenal. With the value that we have in Ferguson and others, we have the salary to spend up. Nix looks like a core piece to have in lineups.

Matthew Stafford | QB | LAR ($10,400)

The opposing QB is also a great click here. As mentioned, we have salary to use with the value pieces we have here, and Matthew Stafford fits that script. He’s at the top of projections with Nix and Adams, and also has a ceiling. His targets should be pretty concentrated again with Ferguson and Adams, so getting him in as the captain seems a bit counterintuitive. But at the flex, he should be a piece you're getting to if you have the salary.

Konata Mumpfield | WR | LAR ($2,000)

I'm going to end this breakdown with a value piece that I like to get different here. Mumpfield moved up to the WR2 spot in the absence of Nacua, playing the slot. He was on the field a ton, playing 70% of the team's snaps in Week 2. He was targeted two times and caught one of them for 12 yards. At this price, having someone on the field that much is going to make him viable. It is very possible we see him more involved if Adams and Ferguson have more attention on them. I like him as a contrarian piece. To note, leaving a fair amount of salary is totally OK on this showdown.
